WHAT CAN A PARALEGAL DO FOR YOU?
Since 2007, licensed paralegals in Ontario have been authorized to provide certain legal services to clients, independently of lawyers. Upon being licensed by the Law Society of Ontario, paralegals can represent clients at tribunals, small claims court, traffic court and in certain criminal matters. In addition, paralegals can provide legal advice and negotiate on behalf of a client who is a party to a proceeding.
This limited scope of practice often equates to a greater level of understanding of tribunal processes and a focus on how to resolve our clients’ cases in the most effective manner. As a result, we have the specialized skills and expertise necessary to successfully represent you in these areas.
In addition to this degree of specialization, paralegal services are offered at a much more affordable rate than that of other legal services.
As licensed paralegals in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, we ensure resolution of our clients’ disputes competently and cost-effectively.
All licensed paralegals in Ontario are bound by the Law Society of Ontario’s Paralegal Rules of Professional Conduct, which sets out duties for which every paralegal must abide. They include, but are not limited to, a duty of confidentiality, integrity, competence, and quality of service.
