Scope of Practice

What Can a Licensed Paralegal Do For You?

Independent representation, regulated by the Law Society of Ontario.

Since 2007, licensed paralegals in Ontario have been authorized to represent clients directly, independently of lawyers, within a defined and regulated scope of practice. Once licensed by the Law Society of Ontario, a paralegal may represent clients at tribunals, in Small Claims Court, in traffic and Provincial Offences court, and in certain other proceedings, as well as provide legal advice and negotiate on a client's behalf. This defined scope keeps our focus narrow and our experience deep: we understand the procedures, timelines, and expectations of the tribunals and courts we appear before, and we put that specialized knowledge to work resolving your matter efficiently.
